Today I will tell you how to improve your site's SEO score and improve its indexing by fixing a simple issue which is the meta title and meta description. Meta tags are words hidden in your code that site visitors don't see but that search engines do. Now the one exception is your meta title tag and this is the text that shows up on the browser tab here but overall meta tags are a way for you to effectively tell search engines what your webpage is about. Meta tags are also how its meta title and meta description might be presented to visitors in search engine results so by having strong meta tags that target the keywords of this particular page in your site and that offer an accurate interesting description of your page. So, you can increase the likelihood of a high position on the search engine.

Meta Title and Meta Description

After running the diagnostics of our site on SEO site checkup you might see here that both the meta title and Meta Description tags are missing this is bad news. So you have to fix it up by writing code for somewhere here in the head area.

Example of Meta Description

In this example of meta description, let's say we have a video production site that specializes in several styles of the video so a good description that contains those keywords will help its target audience find this site. Now again visitors themselves won't see these words when they visit but the search engines will still scan these tags to get an idea of your site's keywords and that's what it's all about.

Meta Description Length

Now let's look at the meta description length which will have within this line of code. While it's good practice to keep your description under 160 characters just keep in mind that your description here should reflect the content of your site and the keywords are trying to target. Google typically truncates Meta Titles after the first 50 or 60 characters or so and while you wouldn't want these to be too long anyway still be sure to give a descriptive unique title to every page.

Tips to Write Good Meta Tag

When someone types in related keywords in a search the search engines can now help connect the dots. Also, keep in mind that you can also pose questions in your meta tags questions that your target audience might be inclined to search for. So, by having meta tags that are relevant your click-through rates can increase because users that are looking for content like yours are able to find it and that's it. The pretty simple issue here but not one that you want to overlook because missing or poorly thought out meta tags won't do you any favors.

Precaution to Take While Writing Meta  Title

In this case for the home page we can have the name of the website and the company slogan then on other pages we would want titles that uniquely reflect the content of each unique page. Do not write the same title for every page or the same search query will return several different pages thereby making your website look repetitive to the search engines. Also, it may be tempting but be sure to avoid keyword stuffing here because that can backfire and make your site look spammy.

The disadvantage of having no Meta Tag

Poorly written having inaccurate or missing meta tags can lead to a drop in those search results and your target audience might not ever find you. In fact, if you're missing your meta tags altogether then search engines may try and generate them for you based on other text content throughout your page which may or may not be helpful or as relevant as you like, much better if you take charge of that.
