How to train cockatiel to talk
Male cockatiel
It works better if it's a male. I mean you can train your female how to talk but it works better if it's a male. For the most part, the younger they are the easier they are to train but can no matter what you can train your cockatiel to talk. It's never too late but it's better if you start when they're younger. But that doesn't mean that you should not have an older cockatiel because they are lovely too.
Always talk to them
So one thing that you can do is always talk to them. You want to give them time that is just like you and them. So whatever I am like sitting and watching TV or anything like that my cockatiel is usually on my shoulder he is like on my chest or whatever. He likes to be around people. So make sure that you're always communicating with your cockatiel. You want to say hi pretty bird and hello pretty bird.
Talk slower
You want to make sure that you're talking slower. If you're talking really really fast your cockatiel not going to understand you. You can teach him other things too right now my cockatiel is learning if you're happy and you know it.
Become his friend
Another thing to learn how to talk is they are going to listen to you when they are friends with you. So make sure they like to be on your hand, that you're letting them rest on your shoulder that you're letting them just do what they want to do because they are going to get a lot more friends around you. The more scared they are of you, the more they are gonna be afraid to like being around you.
Reward your cockatiel with treats
Another thing that they like is millet and you can get this extremely fresh or you can get it out of a bag you can do both. This is also in their birdseed but when it is just this they obviously like it a lot more.
But can we use this just to treat them or you can give it to them all the time, Which I am guilty of because I know that my cockatiel likes this and if they are talking you should reward them with treats because then they know to do that if they want the treat. But again I do not do that, but these are just ways to get them to talk.
Show them videos of other cockatiels
